Smith & Ouzman Achieve ISO:14001 For Environmental Management

Smith & Ouzman has demonstrated its ongoing commitment to the environment by achieving ISO140001:2004 certification for its environmental management system.

Smith & Ouzman sought the certification as a natural progression of its commitment to the environment and to cement its reputation as a responsible and respected printing company that has been actively recycling and environmentally aware for almost 30 years.

Phil Ouzman, Managing Director, explained why this is not just another certificate to add to Smith & Ouzman’s list of accreditations: “Our aim is to continue to reduce any negative impact we have as a company and to improve the awareness of staff on environmental issues to the same degree that we have on security and quality issues.”

The environmental policy has been implemented and maintained by a team of staff from all areas of the company. This grass roots involvement has helped in promoting and delivering the message across the whole business, and has led to innovative and practical ideas to improve sustainability and cost savings.

ISO14001:2004 specifies a process for measuring, controlling and improving environmental performance, including the use of natural resources, the handling and treatment of waste, and energy consumption.“ISO14001:2004 is designed to bridge the gap between maintaining profitability and reducing environmental impact,” explained Phil Ouzman. “With the continued commitment of the entire company, it will enable Smith & Ouzman to continually achieve both objectives.”
