Certificates for certificate printers Smith & Ouzman.

In its 60th year of business, and following its most successful year of trading, Smith & Ouzman, one of the UK’s leading independent certificate and secure document printers, has been issued with Quality Assurance and Security Information Management System certificates by the British Standards Institute (BSI).

At the same time, the company received its certificate of membership to the Nigeria Cheque Printers Accreditation Scheme (NICPAS), joining only 10 other printers worldwide to have received this accolade.

The BSI certification to ISO9001 for Quality Assurance and BS7799 for Security Information Management System marks a change in accreditation agency for Smith & Ouzman. Phil Ouzman, managing director, said: “Our main objective in changing to BSI was to improve the service we receive: BSI is not only very helpful but also cost effective. We have been accredited for quality assurance since 1993 and it was an easy matter to arrange the changeover as our quality procedures are now well ingrained within the company.”

The NICPAS certificate followed a visit from the Nigerian audit team. The accreditation is similar to the UK APACS requirements, although it has different criteria for strengths of inks and numbering specification. Smith & Ouzman has already won an order for 10 million cheques as a result of this award.

“Gaining these certificates is testament to Smith & Ouzman’s continued commitment to providing the highest quality service to our customers throughout the world,” concluded Phil Ouzman.

Smith & Ouzman produces millions of security documents, including share certificates, examination certificates and university certificates for countries worldwide.
